Sprachschule im Friedrichshain Sprachenatelier

Sprachenatelier Berlin

Institute for Language, Art and Culture

Our Language Courses
Our language school offers the widest selection of language courses of any school in Berlin. With more than 50 foreign language offerings, Sprachenatelier is the best place to learn foreign languages. Here you can learn Arabic, Hebrew, Kurdish and Urdu, all taught directly by native speakers. We also have more popular languages such as German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and many others.

Our Cultural Program
Beyond language courses, we also offer cultural programming for elements of intercultural exchange, art and culture. We organize and support a wide variety of cultural events for both our students and a general audience. Our program regularly includes exhibitions, readings, film festivals, etc. Every Wednesday, Sprachenatelier prepares a cultural program. During the summer program (July and August) we organize events daily. The aim of our cultural program is to give our students the opportunity to experience culture and everyday life in Berlin first hand.

The wide range of language course offerings and varied art and cultural programming, make our language school the perfect place for everyone who is interested in language, art and culture.

The House
The building which houses our language school is a monument protected site. The house combines living and business spaces in a way that is typical of the Frankfurter Allee commercial street at the beginning of the 20th century. The five-story, brick building was the residence of master bricklayer Oscar Garbe, who himself drew the floor plans of the apartment and lived with his family on the second floor. The rooms are in Art Nouveau style, decorated with beautiful woodwork in the stairwell and in the salon (2nd floor).

On the ground floor of the building, the restaurant and social space "Die Garbe” offers our students coffee and other refreshments for reasonable prices and is what makes it a perfect addition to our institution: not just language, art, culture – but also cuisine!
