The Stories of Russian Germans

Workshops, discussions, films, readings. What is a Russian German? Why are the returning now? How are they Germans? This (intentionally provocative) and other questions will be asked and answered during our workshop sequence at Sprachenatelier. The answers can be found within the two-hundred year old history of Russian German people and their scientific and cultural achievements during this difficult period. Knowledge of these historical periods and the way they are connected should promote understanding for German Russians among people of the Bundesrepublik. It's also important that the Russian Germans, especially those of the younger generation, should be aware of their own history and feel confident about it. It may even help them further integrate themselves into the community. This active contribution to integration is necessary to answer the unanswered questions and erase misconceptions of the Russian German people.
