Exhibition by Betty Stürmer, Objects and Photography

Masters of the Modern – what more do we want from them? Betty Stürmer gets her own Matisse in which reconstructs and paints fragments of his paintings in cardboard. She employs famous status symbols and varying figures in her own courtyards. Berliner Efeu offers a newly arranged and recorded backdrop to the Matissian compositions using photography. Almost 100 years after Matisse, we land in contemporary Berlin with Betty Stürmer. Her materials are mainly cardboard boxes she finds on the street and art materials from a specialist shop. The palm trees are hidden in her artwork and in January her backgrounds consist mainly of snow. In this way, climate and lifestyle are taken literally. The garden is now open.
