Guest speaker: Georg Classen, from the Refugee Council in Berlin
Film: 'Little Alien' by Nina Kusturica

Flight and Asylum – our next topic in the series 'The World is Bigger than my Village' – needs little introduction.

We'll be looking at the day-to-day life of refugees beyond the hype of the headlines, discussing the social, political, and juridical constraints faced by refugees in Berlin, and we'll explore the ways we can get involved to help the situation.

We'll be showing the film 'Little Alien' by Nina Kusturica and are pleased to invite Georg Classen to lead our discussion round afterwards.

About the film: 'Little Alien' is a documentary by Nina Kusturica showing the lives of teenagers who, alone at considerable risk to themselves, flee to Europe. In an insightful and sensitive manner, Nina Kusturica paints a complex portrait of the hopes and dreams of the young refugees and of their confrontation with the at times absurd and inhumane brueaucratic systems of European states.
