Reading with Esmahan Aykol

Reading with Esmahan Aykol

Esmahan Aykol, born in 1970 in Edirne in Turkey, lives in Berlin and Istanbul today. While studying law she worked as a journalist for various Turkish newspapers and radio stations. She later opened a bar with her friend, which went broke shortly afterwards. Her friend opened a book shop and Esmahan Aykol wrote a novel which can be found in this book shop and others all over Turkey: Hotel Bosporus.

"Kati Hirschel is Esmahan Aykol's new heroine with a future on the crime scene; young, clever, ironic and confident. And of course clever enough to take over the police in any investigation. A woman who sees Istanbul, her adopted home, through both loving eyes and the eyes of a stranger. The result is a perceptive observation of the characteristics of both the German and the Turkish, mirrored frequently in these novels. Kati Hirschel is someone who people would often like to meet and learn more about her Istanbul." Andrea Fischer / Der Tagespiegel, Berlin
