Culture Wednesday: Ocean Futures

On this Culture Wednesday, we are going to the Futurium, a museum. Across 150 square meters, the current exhibition Ocean Futures presents a future world focused on the ocean. The large artwork by artist Leeroy New reminds us of a mangrove forest or an artificial island, and it connects the past, present and the future. The exhibition revolves around two families of fishermen, one from the Philippines and one from Germany. They share stories about their lives with the sea, their worries, their hopes and dreams. Even though they live far apart, they have many things in common. The exhibition shows that oceans are not only important for food, but also for culture, identity and our future.
