Culture Wednesday: Ostblicke
At the Museum in the Kulturbrauerei, a photography exhibition dedicated to East Germany has been on view since October. Thirty-five years after reunification, the exhibition presents two photographic series that focus on the changes in the everyday lives of people in what was once East Germany. After more than three decades, their lives have changed significantly, and this is precisely what Berlin-based photographer Sophie Kirchner aims to convey to the audience. The artist Philipp Baumgarten documented everyday life between 2005 and 2022 with his camera and came to the conclusion that while some things have hardly changed, others have transformed greatly. The works of both artists are presented together, offering an impressive insight into East Germany.
