Culture Wednesday: Margarethe von Trotta im n.b.k.

The Neuer Berliner Kunstverein presents an impressive retrospective dedicated to Margarethe von Trotta, one of the most influential voices in European auteur cinema. For more than five decades, her work has shaped both German and international film, always with a sharp eye on history, politics, and strong female figures. The exhibition Margarethe von Trotta features film excerpts, photographs, screenplay drafts and personal notebooks, offering insight into the life and creative process of an artist who redefined the relationship between the personal and the political. Iconic works such as "The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum", "Marianne and Juliane", "Rosa Luxemburg", and "Hannah Arendt" brought her worldwide recognition.

Running parallel to the exhibition, Kino Babylon is also honoring the director’s work with a major film retrospective, screening selected films by Margarethe von Trotta until November 9, 2025.
